I always hear potheads trying to justify their marijuana addictions by blabbing about how Henry Ford’s first model T ran on hemp fuel. But wouldn’t corn be a better alternative than hemp for a natural fuel source? I mean, I imagine it would have the highest yield.

Fords first car didnt run on hemp, and corn isnt a good biofuel for cars either. It just sorta burns, doesnt release enough energy to power a damn smart car, let alone an actual car

Why would any sane person burn food for fuel? The Govt takes 25% of the corn in this country for fuel and we have a food shortage. The corn does not have enough energy potential. Hydrogen would be better and can and has been done, but big oil makes nothing and therefore hydrogen is not widespread and is touted as a bad idea.
Unless you are growing seedless, a field of marijuana is going to have about half male plants – male plants do not contain thc, it is industrial grade hemp. It is currently illegal in the US because of laws against marijuana. Yes, hemp products are imported, but you cannot produce hemp here.
So, when you legalize marijuana, half your field will be industrial hemp. Its good for LOTS of uses from fuel to certain types of textiles to paper. Legalizing marijuana will actually add very few marijuana fields – everyone who wants to grow already does. And, you dont even have to have a field. All you have to do is buy out a ware house, and do it all hydroponically.
When you start removing a significant portion of the food supply in order to create energy, food prices sky rocket, and people go hungry. We dont have the land to add that many more cord fields, a lot, if not most, would have to come from current crops. Maybe gm gets better over the years, so that we could produce a significantly larger amount of food in the same spot, its possible.
That being said, people absolutely should buy up all the used veggie oil they can find, and refine it to fuel. There are MANY things that could make natural feul, and this time, it might be nice if there is actual competition, instead of the same 4 or 5 companies selling you the same product by having penny price wars.
Another green point of marijuana is that outdoor marijuana fields, do more to reduce carbon pollution from the air than re forrestation and other methods in use on the legal side of things.
