Which Colleges Have the Best Music Programs in Chicago?

Question by Lucas B: Which colleges have the best music programs in Chicago?
I already got accepted to Columbia but I was wondering if there are any other schools in Chicago with a good music department. I’m into music production/technology and sound and stuff. But I also do photography/film/graphic design on the side that’s why I thought Columbia was the best choice.

I really want to live in Chicago but any other big city is fine. If not in Chicago, then what are the best options?

Stick with Columbia College for this major. Many of the professors there have REAL industry connections and are/have been RECENT working PROFESSIONALS in the music industry. This is why I recommend Columbia. On a side note, Columbia is in the center of downtown, and in a GREAT area. It is only 2 blocks from the waterfront, and across the street from beautiful Millennium Park. EVERYTHING, and I mean everything is with walking distance of two blocks from the college including: public transportation (train/subway/buses), shopping, grocery store, gas station, plenty of restaurants, wine/liquor shops, drug stores, need I go on?…

Stick with this program and you won’t be disappointed. Just be sure to be very focused cuz it’s easy to get distracted by all the “glitter and eye candy” at/around Columbia. The teachers will NOT push you hard, you must be a “go getter” who is self motivated. Obviously, this is very important in this industry.
