I live by Chicago. My girlfriend works in a banquet hall, an African American woman tried to pay for a graduation party with a LINK card. When my girlfriend told her they didn’t accept it she said well most places do.

How much is this woman getting in welfare that she thinks she can pay off a $ 1000 payment with her LINK card? I don’t have one but I was under the impression it was supposed to be used for food not for a party.

No wonder Illinois is going bankrupt.

If you want to throw a graduation party get a job and pay for it yourself, don’t make the tax payers pay for it.
I wish I made this up. Welfare abuse is a huge problem in Illinois, I’ve been approached several times by people trying to sell their food stamps.

Those cards hold both foodstamp benefits and cash assistance benefits, so it may not be a clear case of benefit fraud. The woman is also correct that most places that accept credit cards accept the cash benefits part of the card.
Im not disagreeing with you about the use of the money, just explaining how the cards work.
