What Is a Good Fiction Book That I Could Give to My Mom as a Gift?
Question by amero: What is a good fiction book that i could give to my mom as a gift?
My mom is a hard woman to shop for. I know that she would love to read if only she could find something that she’s interested in. She’s just very shallow and she says she has a short attention span (it’s just an excuse not to read) but she reads magazine articles. The only books I see her read are diet books and books on natural healing, Food Addiction, Organic and Natural foods, mercury poisoning, thyroid problems, and menopause. So its pretty hard to find a fiction book that’s exciting and interesting concerning these topics unless its written by a hypochondriac with weight problems.
On the other hand she likes decorating and real estate and rich people and really shallow chick flick movies with dianne keaton and meg ryan. She also loves NYC and anything to do with the rich snobs who live in upper east manhattan…. but she grew up in brooklyn.
maybe i’ll just get her some chick-lit but I want it to be something that will hold her attention. Anyone have any ideas?
History of Mental Illness?
Question by Go Herd: History of mental illness?
I’m writing a paper on the history of mental illness and how it has come to be accepted in society today. I’ve looked all night for sources through my university’s library website but all that I can come up with are abstracts and “unavailable” documents. Does anyone know where I can go to find reliable research sources?
Thanks in advance!

How Would You Scare the Shit Out of a Teenager Who Is Involved in Drugs or Anybody for That Matter ?
Question by johan: How would you scare the shit out of a teenager who is involved in drugs or anybody for that matter ?
Why drug taking has become a sort of an attraction to the younger generation..?, and we find that every generation that had gone by have similarities in regards to young people. It wouldn’t be entirely fair to put the blame on parents when their children get involve with drugs for the simple reason that each individual is always open to what is happening around them. Good parents will know what’s good for their children and no doubt they will try their best to ensure their children is saved from the menace of drug abuse. No parents can be with their teenage children 24 hours a day ? What goes on in society that have strong influencing factor is hard to avoid more so for young people who were beginning to experience life with gusto and their simple curiosity may push them further into many complications that life seems to offer and getting involve in drug taking is one of them.
