Pros of Alcohol and Drug Abuse?
Question by Angel: Pros of alcohol and drug abuse?
I’m having a debate on alcohol and drug abuse for my sociology class and my half of the debate are the pros. I certainly know that the functionalists would say that drug and alcohol abuse is good because it provides jobs for AA employees and provides greater economic flow. I’d actually like to know, are there any other pros besides the mentioned for the abuse of alcohol and drugs? Can the word “abuse” be used in a different context for alcohol and drugs? Please give me something to debate on the pros, thank you!
Okay, let me clarify my point of the debate: I was assigned the half of the debate that is pro drug and alcohol abuse, I had no say. I didn’t just ask for the pros of health, I’m also asking for benefits it causes. Functionalists, Conflict theorists, anything really. It wasn’t my choice to be the pro party. Sorry if I didn’t clarify enough.

I only know that the acronym stands for Treatment Alternatives to Incarceration Program, I think it may be a alchohol/drug evaluation.

He had prostate cancer. He also battled drug addiction and did some jail time. Here is a recap:
* On April 3, 1999, Strawberry was arrested in Tampa, Florida for soliciting sex from a police woman posing as a prostitute and for having a small amount of cocaine. On April 24, he was suspended for 140 days by Major League Baseball for the incident. On May 29, he pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to 21 months probation and community service. Side Effects of the H1N1 Vaccine / Vaccination?
Question by ZZZ: Side effects of the H1N1 vaccine / vaccination?
I was thinking of getting my 5 year old daughter the H1N1 vaccination (the next time there is one) and I had saw a video on youtube about a woman who developed a rare neurological syndrome after getting a flu shot (not the H1N1, just a regular flu shot). 10 days after she got it, she went into convulsions and now can only walk backwards normally. She can’t walk forward and her speech isn’t normal. Oddly, she can run or jog forward and speak normally when she runs.
I Am Looking for Resources on Addiction Therapy??
Question by irishfirefighter762: I am looking for resources on addiction therapy??
My wife is in therapy for a sleeping pill addiction and I am not happy with the progress that they are making in therapy. I wont to be able to talk intelligently with her about my concerns and possibly have some other option that would be more productive. My wife has not been evaluated with any test I am concerned that the therapist may not know how sever the addiction may be. She is a function addict with a job and every thing that everybody elts dose. It seams that the therapist is giving her unconditional positive regard and my wife seem to be feeding in to it with the theory that things are going grate in realty she had a small relapse just one month ago. I have read a little about Roger theory off and think that this might be the case here. I would like to request a Michigan drug dependency test. What is you though and advise I do not wont to change therapist because we have already done that once. Do you know of any websites that I might be able to read up on addiction therapy? The therapist now won’t to work on our marriage and I think that is totally the wrong direction because I think the addiction is what should be concentrated on. Please any advice would be great and if you have canceling experiences please let me know!!
Drug Addiction?
Question by ? Rachel The Great ?: Drug Addiction?
I have a brother who is 23 years old. He has had an addiction to drugs since he was 16 years old and he is going to move to chicago in a month or so to “change his life”. However, prior to leaving Florida, he has been experimenting with drugs that he has been having a problem with since he was 16. Is this in any way going to make him rehabilitate before he moves? I am worried about him. Do you have any suggestions? What should I do? I’ve approached the subject but I don’t think I am getting through 🙁 .
And it’s not like he is just smoking pot, he goes on cocaine binges and looses 500 dollars in one night because of it.
