In Which Departments Is a Prison Divided?

Question by Patrick: In which departments is a prison divided?
There is a department in jail where all sexual offenders are and one where all murderers are. Are sexual offenders alone in their cell or do they have to share it with another inmate? What about the cell of murderers? I am asking because if there are at least two inmates in the same cell, then they could either rape each other or kill each other.

Most prisons house two to a cell or dorm style which is many people confined to a bigger room.There are situations where single cells are utilized but everything varies from institution to institution.If you want to know about yours just call your local prison and talk to their pr person and they should be able to help you with any questions you have.
