how much schooling would this require? how much do they get paid? what types of classes would you have to take and just a round about of what they do?

yes, much schooling is required to become a certified substance abuse counselor or therapist. first, you take your usual bachelor’s degree (4 years; any field like psychology, social work, etc.) then you take a master’s degree (2 years; clinical psychology would be helpful and you can major in substance abuse counseling. then after graduation, you can take the test for certification. different states have different requirements. median salaries for substance abuse counselors range from $ 29,000 to $ 46,000 per year and there is always great demand for professionals in this field. they can work in rehab centers, jails, youth camps, schools, etc.
