Can You Please Fill Out This Human Rights Survey?
Question by John M: Can you please fill out this human rights survey?
YOU WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS. IT’S FOR MY SCHOOL PROJECT. THANKS!!!!
1.The United States makes it a top priority to find and capture international criminals. In your opinion, do you support the torture of people like Saddam Hussein by their captors?
2.Do you believe these mental attacks constitute toture? The prisoner is left to stand naked in a cell kept near 50 degrees. Throughout the time in the cell the prisoner is doused with cold water. The use of scenarios designed to convince a detainee that death or severely painful consequences are imminent for him or his family. Interrogations for up to 20 hours (sleep deprevation). The prisoner is bound to an inclined board, feet raised and head slightly below the feet. Cellophane is wrapped over the prisoner’s face and water is poured over him. Unavoidably, the gag reflex kicks in and a terrifying fear of drowning leads to almost instant pleas to bring the treatment to a halt.
3.Based on numerous allegations of U.S. violations of human rights in detention centers such as Guantanamo Bay, do you believe the United States has signed and ratified the International Bill of Rights?
4.The Chicago Police department was exposed to have lied on police reports, conducted illegal searches, and brutally beat criminals (among many other serious offenses), all at the encouragement of department supervisors. However, the department saw much progress in clearing drugs, guns, and criminals off the Chicago streets. Do you believe in the principle that “the ends justify the means”?
5. Would you support actions to end sweatshops and child labor if it meant an increase in the cost of clothes, shoes, etc.?
6.Do you think China will make good on their promise to increase human rights due to the 2008 Beijing Olympics? If so, do you expect much progress?
7.Have you contributed in some way to stopping international human rights violations? This includes donations, protest, etc.
