What Is a Good Fiction Book That I Could Give to My Mom as a Gift?
Question by amero: What is a good fiction book that i could give to my mom as a gift?
My mom is a hard woman to shop for. I know that she would love to read if only she could find something that she’s interested in. She’s just very shallow and she says she has a short attention span (it’s just an excuse not to read) but she reads magazine articles. The only books I see her read are diet books and books on natural healing, Food Addiction, Organic and Natural foods, mercury poisoning, thyroid problems, and menopause. So its pretty hard to find a fiction book that’s exciting and interesting concerning these topics unless its written by a hypochondriac with weight problems.
On the other hand she likes decorating and real estate and rich people and really shallow chick flick movies with dianne keaton and meg ryan. She also loves NYC and anything to do with the rich snobs who live in upper east manhattan…. but she grew up in brooklyn.
maybe i’ll just get her some chick-lit but I want it to be something that will hold her attention. Anyone have any ideas?

Wow, that is hard! I’m not sure I’d give her fiction at all, she doesn’t seem to like it and might just say thanks and not read it. Why not try some sort of diet book, like the Liver Cleansing Diet (always popular) or some sort of ‘kiss and tell’ by NYC society types?
Failing that, how a bout a double pass to the cinema for you and she to go and see a shallow chick-flick together, and have a relaxed coffee afterwards. It’s HER birthday after all!
Good luck and best wishes 🙂
